American Idol: Top 12 Girls

The girls showed the guys how it was done on last night’s performance episode!  I am so impressed by this group!  There were only a couple clunkers in the bunch.

I have  feeling we’ll be saying goodbye to Rachel Zevita and Ta-Tynisa Wilson for sure.  While they both have good voices, their song choice and style did NOTHING for them.  Am I right?

Here’s Rachel’s “broadway-esque” version of Fiona Apple’s “Criminal”:

Now…on to the good stuff!  I’ve had my eye on youngsters Lauren Alaina and Thia Meguia since their first auditions.  Both girls brought it!  Thia smartly powered through a ballad that began with a sweet a capella moment, and Lauren showed off her killer vocals while showcasing her personality with a county song.

Here’s Thia’s “Out Here On My Own”

And Lauren rockin’ out to Reba:

Other great performances included Karen Rodriguez’s version of “Hero.”  Not only did she knock it out of the park, she also sang it half in English and half in Spanish.  She is REALLY SMART to showcase her ability to be a bi-lingual star.

I hadn’t paid a lot of attention to Pia Toscano so far.  But after last night’s performance of “I’ll Stand By You,” I’m keeping my eye on her for sure!  She even got a standing ovation from the judges.
