‘Rango’ Tops Weekend Box Office

The animated film Rango, which features Johnny Depp as the voice of a chameleon trying to bring law and order to a Wild West town, opened at the top of the weekend box office. Also lending their voices are Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone and Timothy Olyphant.

Debuting in second place was the sci-fi drama The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon as a politician who finds himself battling Fate after he meets a ballerina, played by Emily Blunt. Anthony Mackie, John Slattery and Terence Stamp co-star. Beastly, starring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens in a modern take on Beauty and the Beast, opened at Number Three. Co-starring are Mary-Kate Olsen, Peter Krause and Neil Patrick Harris.

Last week’s top movie, Gnomeo and Juliet, fell to fifth place.
