Pitbull (Armando Christian Pérez) is a southern rapper who knows how to party with his music.  You may be familiar with him from his recent hits, “Give Me Everything” and “Rain Over Me” but his success goes further back.  Armando the son of Cuban immigrants, grew up enjoying Cuban poets such as José Martí giving him inspiration for his work.  In the early years Armando performed throughout hometown Miami relishing a “G-Funk” sound of the west coast.  Pitbull’s first big break came in 2002 when his freestyle landed on Lil Jon’s Kings of Crunk album.  With some new found mainstream glory Pitbull found his song, “Oye” on the soundtrack of 2 Fast 2 Furious.  This would lead up to his first full length album in 2004 called M.I.A.M.I with an original single of, “Culo”.

(Rapper Pitbull’s “Oye” party jam debuted on the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack)

The success has not stopped pouring in since!  The rapper has now released six full length albums and has had numerous mainstream successes.  In 2009 the hit, “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” peaked at number two on the Billboard Top 100, with another single from the same album, “Hotel Room Service” peaking at number 8.  Most recently in Pitbull’s 2011 album Planet Pit  “Give Me Everything” became his first #1 single.  At age 30 rapper Pitbull seems to be peaking right at the prime age.  I would expect a few more fun albums, and hip singles for us to all enjoy at the club in the near future!
