Texas A&M to the SEC…UPDATE

September 9, 2011

College Station, TX

As an update to my previous post about the Aggies move to the SEC, as of now All Parties are just Waiting.

Sadly that is all there is to report.  The SEC is waiting for Baylor to sign a waiver saying they won’t sue the SEC. Texas A&M is waiting for the SEC to drop the waiver requirement from the individual schools of the Big 12.  Oklahoma is waiting to declare that they are going to the PAC-12 (a move that would likely take OSU, Tech and Texas to the PAC-12 too.) Baylor is waiting for Oklahoma to make a decision on the PAC-12. Texas is waiting for their ESPN checks to come in.

And Dan Beebe and the Big 12 office is waiting for the sky to fall.

That is it in a nutshell, Oklahoma is in no hurry to make a decision, and being nice by allowing other Big 12 schools to explore their options on realignment.  As much as it irks us Aggies, Baylor really has no reason or motivation to sign a waiver to the SEC, so they probably never will.  The SEC knows that any suit raised against them will most likely be bogus, but they’re too cautious/frightened by the idea of wasting money on a frivolous lawsuit, to go ahead and pull the trigger and remove the “individual school waiver” requirement for membership.

There ya go, Texas A&M may not officially be in the SEC until after Bowl season or we could do something else all together, but my money is on the SEC…eventually.
