Nicki Minaj’s Dream Finally Realized
All that surgery has finally paid off because Minaj is about to be forever immortalized in plastic.. as a barbie. Which, I can only imagine is a major life accomplishment she can now check off her to do list.
Mattel is making the one-of-a-kind Barbie doll modeled off of Minaj, which will be available for auction at CharityBuzz.com.
Ever since the singer broke out on the scene, her die-hard fans started calling themselves Barbies (or “Barbz” for short) because of the singer’s blonde hair and affinity for all things pink. And who could forget Minaj’s debut album called “Pink Friday?”
The doll will be showcased at Divine Design’s five-day event and gala at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, according to Billboard.
Charitybuzz will start taking bids on Dec. 19. The bids will start at $1,000. The Grammy-nominated singer is in good company, as former one-of-a-kind charity Barbie models include Janet Jackson and Rachel Zoe. All proceeds from the sale will go to Project Angel Food, which provided meals for men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS.
“Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon. She’s been in the spotlight for over 50 years, and strikes that chord with girls of all ages in terms of being representative of the times,” said Barbie spokeswoman Stefani Yocky, who declined to say if the one-off is the beginning of a deeper relationship between the rapper and the company. “And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan … It’s really exciting for us that she’s been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause.”
Will we be seeing more Minaj dolls? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
And rumor has it Katy Perry dolls are on the way as well.. wonder what color hair they will give her?
