Hospice Auxilliary of Brazos Valley is hosting a program and meeting on Wednesday, February 22nd at the Pebble Creek Country Club. The Boys & Girls Club of Brazos Valley will be implementing SMART Moves (Skills, Mastery and Resistance Training) - an award winning program targeted to address the problems of drugs, alcohol and premature sexual activity in an 8 week comprehensive program. Now through February 24, the College Station Municipal Court and the other Brazos county Courts that handle Class C misdemeanors are offering a Warrant Amnesty. If you are unsure whether you have an outstanding warrant you should contact the court where they think their case may be OR check out the website www.cstx.gov/warrants . After the amnesty grace period has passed local law enforcement will be arresting those with Class C warrants during the Warrant Round Up.

Bryan Citizen Police Academy
Citizen Police Academy - Classes Starting!!!
It's that time of year again when we recruit citizens for class. Do you know someone who would like to join our Citizens Police Academy or have you been thinking about it yourself? Well now is the time to join. Twice a year we offer citizens a chance to partner with the Bryan Police Department and learn about what we do and see firsthand how it is done. The Bryan Police Department offers the citizens of Bryan the chance to see the inner workings of their police department through the Citizen's Police Academy and it's FREE.
The 10-week CPA course meets one night each week from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm. Classes are held at the Bryan Police Department. Topics covered in the CPA class include overviews of the Bryan Police Department's organization and structure, information on cadet recruiting and training, introductions to the various divisions of the BPD and their responsibilities (such as Criminal Investigations, Traffic Safety, and Narcotics). Plus, there will be hands-on workshops such as building searches, simulated traffic stops, and crime scenes. Instructors are drawn from the Police Department staff and other criminal justice agencies. CPA class members are also given an opportunity to do a Ride-Along experience with a patrol officer on the streets.

Upon graduating from the CPA, citizens will have the chance to join the Bryan Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. CPAAA members can continue to work with the police department as volunteers in areas and functions throughout the department. This is a great chance to learn more about your law enforcement community and partner with your local police department.
Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting
The Sul Ross Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans invites the public to attend it's meeting this Thursday, February 23rd at 6:30pm. NoiseFold performance
The interactive media group NoiseFold will visit A&M for a performance in Rudder Theater on Thursday, February 23rd at 7:30pm. The group uses moving image, music and the visual arts to create live cinema performances, interactive video installations, animated films, electro-acoustic music scores and print works. The Texas Autism Collaborative and Easter Seals East Texas/Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center are now accepting applications for educational and behavioral clinics for children ages 2 -5 with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Families with young children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder are encouraged to sign up for these intervention clinics, which cover essential skills including: communication skills, social skills, challenging behavior intervention, play skills and pre-academic preparation. Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
February is national Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Members of the Brazos County Coalition Against Domestic Violence are joining advocates throughout the nation to promote awareness about healthy and unhealthy dating relationships. The goal is to educate teens, parents and educators in schools and small groups through its "Love is Not Abuse" prevention education project. The City of Bryan Parks and Rec Department is currently holding registration for the Start Smart Baseball Program. Broomball Tournament
Friday, February 24th come check out the 6th Annual Broom-ball Tournament hosted by the Brazos County Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Each year team's from law enforcement and other community agencies compete for the "Golden Broom" while raising money for domestic violence and dating violence awareness prevention projects. This year's tournament will begin at 5:45 at the Arctic Wolf Ice Center. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids.

GLOW - Giving to Light Other's Way - is a nighttime 5K put on by Maggies and Aggie Men's Club. This year GLOW will take place on the A&M Campus on Friday, February 24th. Check in begins at 8:00. The annual A&M Colsolidated Tiger Band Council Pancake Breakfast fundraiser will be this Saturday, February 25th from 7 to 11 am at the Covenant Presbyterian Church on Rock Prairie. Suggested donation is $7.00 and all proceeds are used to offset costs of the Consol Tiger Band banquet in May.

Brazos Valley Tennis Association's Junior Team Tennis- Spring Season
The Brazos Valley Tennis Association's (BVTA) USTA-sanctioned Junior Team Tennis spring season begins Feb. 19. This is a match-play designed league intended for kids of all ages through 18 yrs old. It is broken up into non-advancing divisions (10 & Under All Levels, and all 18 & Under, 14 & Under, and 12 & Under Beginner Levels) and advancing divsions (12 & Under Intermediate, 14 & Under Intermediate, and 18 & Under Intermediate). Players will compete as a team playing both singles and doubles matches and accumulating points for their team. Winning teams will advance to the Regional Qualifier against Waco and from there the Sectional Championships in New Braunfels, TX at John Newcombe Tennis Ranch. Matches will be held on Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm. Match days are scheduled for: Feb. 19, 26, March 4, 18, and 25. Matches for advancing divisions will be held at Bryan High School's tennis courts, while 10 & Under and all Beginner level matches will be held at Carter Creek Aerofit's tennis courts. On Saturday, February 4, USAFit will kick-off it's second season of "Ten Weeks to a 10K" training program. Designed for walkers and runners alike, we will be starting a slow, gradual 10-week training program to train for the Blue Bell Fun Run 10K on April 14. Boys & Girls Club SMART Moves program
The Boys & Girls Club of Brazos Valley will be implementing SMART Moves (Skills, Mastery and Resistance Training) - an award winning program targeted to address the problems of drugs, alcohol and premature sexual activity in an 8 week comprehensive program. SMART Moves will be taught to 10-12 year old members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Brazos Valley at the Central Unit in Bryan every Wednesday at 4:00, now thru April 4th. Autism Early Intervention Clinics
The Texas Autism Collaborative and Easter Seals East Texas/Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center are now accepting applications for educational and behavioral clinics for children ages 2 -5 with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Families with young children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder are encouraged to sign up for these intervention clinics, which cover essential skills including: communication skills, social skills, challenging behavior intervention, play skills and pre-academic preparation. Clinics run 15 weeks and begin Monday, January 23rdth, but it's never too late to apply. Call Cheryl Allen at 979-776-2872 to sign up.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
February is national Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Members of the Brazos County Coalition Against Domestic Violence are joining advocates throughout the nation to promote awareness about healthy and unhealthy dating relationships. The goal is to educate teens, parents and educators in schools and small groups through its "Love is Not Abuse" prevention education project. Prelude to a Kiss; a romantic comedy
The Texas A&M Department of Performance Studies will unveil it's main stage spring theatre show, Prelude to a Kiss, beginning Thursday, February 23rd in Rudder Forum. The story is a classic romantic comedy with a magical twist. Prelude to a Kiss will be performed February 23 25 and March 1 -3 at 8pm; and 2pm matinee shows on February 26 and March 4.
