New Ninja Turtle Movie

I’m going to go into this movie not expecting a whole lot. Michael Bay, the director who’s best known for doing grand scale movies of stuff blowing up (recent Transformers movies, Bad Boys 1 & 2) and very little characterization, is helming another one of my childhood favorites, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

When hearing about him taking charge of this movie I immediately shook my head and expected the worse. Now the first trailer hits the web.

So… yeah, that doesn’t excite me much more than I was to begin with. All it shows is the same old stuff that Bay always does. Hot chicks, things falling apart, and a bit of humor. Will it be better than what I’m thinking it will be? Maybe, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Chilifest 2014 Spotlight: Roger Creager

I’m sure that Fightin’ Texas Aggie Roger Creager has his fair share of great Chilifest stories. He’s played it a few times and spending his college years in College Station, no doubt he went to a few of those early ones.

My first real memory of Roger Creager goes back to October 16, 2003. Yes, I remember the specific date because after Roger finished his set at the Dixie Dancehall in Beaumont, TX, he was signing autographs and game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series was on TV’s over by the pool tables. Aaron Boone hits a home run and I proclaim “*#&$ Yankees!” to which Roger turns to me and replies “Yeah, *#&% the Yankees!” That might be one of the most random memories I have stored in my brain ha.

Since then I’ve seen Roger on just about every time he’s come through whatever town I’ve been living in. Just before Christmas 2013, he stopped into the Tap for a very special Piano Bar night with his band. It was easily one of the coolest and most unique performances I’ve ever seen in my life. He was up there singing his songs, some old school sing along songs, and some songs from buddies of his like Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, and Stoney LaRue. It was such a relaxed night of a band just having fun.

Having fun pretty much sums up what Roger Creager is all about. If you catch an episode of Troubadour, TX that features him, you’ll see a guy who enjoys life and has as much fun on stage as his does off stage. It seems that every time I talk to Roger, he’s either getting ready for a vacation of skiing or going to a tropical island, OR just got back from one. Few can match the stage show and the charisma of Roger Creager.

Songs you should definitely check out before getting out to Chilifest:

“Things Look Good Around Here”

Just because most of Roger’s famous songs are hell raising, good timing songs, doesn’t mean he can’t slow it down, check out “For You I Do”

Even as an acoustic song, “Turn It Up” makes me wanna hit the road and crank up some tunes with the windows down and TURN IT UP!

And how about a little live acoustic version of perhaps his most famous song “Everclear” to wrap this up?!

Chilifest 2014 in Snook, TX is just over a week away! Don’t miss out on your chance to join Candy 95 for the biggest festival of the year! Get your tickets HERE or keep listening to Candy 95 to win your free tickets!

New Music Tuesday 3/25

New music out today!

Of those, not all of them do much for me, but the “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” deluxe edition, “Out Among The Stars” from Johnny Cash, and the Shakira records look like they’d be pretty good.

Is that Kanye & Kim’s Vogue cover?

Kanye annoys me. He has such an opinion of himself he believes that he’d be featured in the Bible if it were written today. The Kardashians annoy me just as much too, I don’t get what they have to offer the world. Their voices make me wanna unload my 9mm into my TV.

All that being said, I love it when other celebs make fun of them and this is one of the best I’ve seen! Big props to Seth Rogan and James Franco for this!

Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” If 20 Different Artists Did It

This is too great not to share!

This YouTube account Ten Second Songs did a fun look at how 20 different artists would do Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” and includes Metallica, Frank Sinatra, Boyz II Men and more. Can’t wait to see them do more videos!

What other songs would be fun for him to do? My votes would be “Hey Ya”, “Down With The Sickness”, and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”!

Adam Drake

Monday-Friday: 6p-10p

Howdy! Yes, another Adam joining in the Candy 95 craziness. I couldn’t be more excited to be here. Some people in town might recognize me as I’ve worked at a few other stations in the market, including a few month stop at Candy back in 2010. You might also realize that most of my time in radio has been spent doing country music. I do love me some honky-tonking country, but have a varied taste. Don’t believe me, just challenge me in SongPop and find out for yourself!

I’m a bit of a smart aleck with strong opinions, but also pride myself on being a pretty alright guy. Most of my time is spent with my wife and amazing son. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ll no doubt see your fair share of pics of him.

If I can’t go to a place wearing boots and jeans, I probably don’t wanna be there in the first place.
