You’ve probably noticed I have re-titled this segment. Don’t fret, it’s the same weekly deal, I just decided to drop the “a$$hole.”

This week’s scenario is what I like to call, fight or flight.

Here’s the email.

Dear Katy,

Recently I started talking to a girl and we have really been hitting it off. The problem is she has a boyfriend who lives with her. She has made it very clear to him and to me that they are done and she doesn’t want to be with him anymore, but she hasn’t officially broken up with him or kicked him out of her place. The more we talk the closer we get, but that’s as far as we can go since neither one of us are willing to cross those BIG lines out of respect for the “relationship” that still exists. She promised she’s going to make the break but I’m worried it’s getting close to ultimatum time if something doesn’t happen soon.

So the question is, should he stay and fight for this girl or run far, far away?

I’m not big into ultimatums, but it seems like that’s the only option here. It’s a sketchy situation, so tell her what you want and expect.. then get the eff out.

It’s the best of both worlds for her- she has a boyfriend whom she may or may not actually be having problems with AND you, the nice guy on the side.

She’s got your number.. she can call you when the deed is done.

In the meantime, I say let her sweat it out.

Maybe I’m totally off base here? What do you think?
