Episode 12: “You Mangled My Nets”
Finally finally finally episode 12 offered something different this past week. The former Ometepe six had to cut on of their own. Right on cue Boston Rob knew what to do. His strategy, his game play, his social game, are all amazing. However with each possible bitter person his casts away is he getting further and further away from any possible chance at a million dollars?
The episode began with a rather boring duel. It was now with four people (Steve, Matty, Mike, and Ralph). Steve looked completely finished out there and made it an easy win for the other three to stay alive. Matty and Mike will be hard to slay on redemption. If Rob truly does not want to see either of them re-enter the game he will have to turn on his close ally Grant. I believe Grant is the only one that could dethrone those two at this point.
It really is a hybrid style of playing the game with this Redemption Island business. If Mike is able to re-enter the game he may be a lead candidate for the million dollars. He won first place in the duel and had an opportunity to spend the day with his mom. Or he could let all the people in the regular game visit with their loved ones. Mike chose to give the tribe their loved ones. This is a million dollar decision. If Mike makes it to the end through redemption, he already has a good chance. However what if this play steals maybe one vote from an Ometepe jury member? Then it is totally worth it. I don’t know what kind of mental factor that will play in the others heads, but when your chips are down you have to play the game. Mike has played a stupid game to an extent, but he has tried to make plays with his back against the wall. That is the ONLY way Survivor should be played. Matty and Mike, are two really good guys. I’m sure I’d enjoy their company in person.
And Then There Were Five
Ometepe’s dominance of this season has been amazing. I don’t always agree with keeping the original alliance due to jury issues, but it’s impressive. Boston Rob has played a game where he struck fear into everyone around him. However the inabilty to play the game for strong athletic players like Andrea and Grant, will hurt them. Andrea, Grant, and Rob were neck and neck through the immunity challenge. This thing was TOUGH. It amazes me how Rob continues to dig deep and play the game like he is a 23 year old fish itching for the money. The contestants had to make a puzzle up and down a high staircase in 110 degree heat. When they ran up and down the tower a good 20 times, they looked like death. Rob prevailed, winning immunity and proceeding to contine his dominance. Next the tribe had to cut somebody. Sure it would be easy to vote of the insane Phillip. But WHY? why would you want to vote out somebody who creates havoc daily, thus losing jury votes. Andrea and Grant were sitting ducks STILL not playing the game. Luckily for Grant, Andrea was the target of mobster Boston Rob. Sure thing, Andrea doesn’t play the game and got voted off. It really is a shame because she is a great physical threat and I think could play some of the males fairly easily with her cute looks. Nonetheless her lack of reading the writing on the wall put her on redemption. Now Andrea must face off versus old ally Matty, Mike, and Ralph. I think she can hang with them, but I cannot wait to see the reunion of her and Matty! Remember Andrea axed him the second time behind his back. Will there be a bitter hangover? We will see! Good episode!

Many of us know Vin Diesel as the hardcore street racing bandit from the Fast And The Furious movies. Acting was not his first gig though. The now 43-year-old Vin made instructional BREAK DANCING videos. Check this out!

Episode #11: “A Mystery Package”
One word for the development of this season, and this past episode… UGH!
Fame Or A Million Dollars?
Every season has a few castaways we all know have absolutely no interest in winning the money. It always frustrates me as a Survivor fan and a hopeful contestant one day. Regardless bottom dwellers are a part of the game, and one must align with them in order to make it to the end. However being a bottom dweller is a legitimate strategy, and can put you in position to win the game. However the only way to officially win would be to make a big move at a big time. What am I getting at you ask? I’m starting to feel as if 3/4 of this cast did not come to play Survivor. Perhaps they came to further their career, perhaps they came for an adventure, but they sure did not come to play a game and it is a crying shame. Without Phillip these people would have given us nothing to offer this season.
Boston Rob’s Adventure
For any of Boston Rob’s cult to take the paycheck home they will have to cut him soon. The only person Rob wants on his side is Phillip, because he will be pretty dang easy to beat. The show started off with a duel and Matty came through once again! I have to admit I truly want to root for this guy. However would a jury give the money to a guy who has been voted out TWICE!? Mike also came through in the duel thus eliminating Julie. The following day was the immunity challenge, where Grant came through once again. He better hope he keeps on winning immunity because his time is near. The original Ometepe six were then presented an interesting situation. If two of them would flip their votes they could force a tie to vote out Rob. Three puts him on redemption. Steve and Ralph were blunt trying to offer the girls Natalie and Ashley. THEY DID NOT EVEN CONSIDER IT!? What in the hell? You are here to play for a million dollars and could probably get the numbers to blindside the guy running the entire game, and you DON’T do it? Why are they on this show? Do they seriously think they can all just be happy do-da and make it to the end with Rob. Common sense tells us that Phillip is going to the finals. Common sense tells us Grant will be the first to go once they are down to six. Why are these people not playing the game!? It is a disgrace to the game of Survivor. Fortunately there was a twist to speed things up. At tribal council Ralph was voted off easily, but that was not all. There was a mystery package they opened which entailed an immunity challenge and another vote promptly. If Steve could win this challenge he could completely screw over Ometepe. Their backup plan appeared to be to vote off Andrea. However Rob remained dominant and won immunity. Steve was then sent home eliminating all of Zapatera.. for now.
Idiots Of The Week
I truly hope someone will try to play the game soon. This season has gotten extremely dry with nobody playing the game anymore. Redemption Island got off to a really fun start, but turned sour when several hard nose players were eliminated early. The bottom dweller syndrome of this show has now allowed dummies to convene and further themselves in the game easily. This is a LEGITIMATE strategy. However it is only legitimate if you have a play in mind to make when the time is right. Grant, Andrea, Natalie, and Ashley, all could have made this play. Instead they will let Rob pick them all off one by one just like Zapatera. Rob is not out there to be your boyfriend (he’s married), your boy, or your best friend. He wants to win another paycheck, don’t let him folks. This episode deserved no player of the week, instead I’m rating the idiots of the week.
1. Grant – Having fun just playing second fiddle to Rob? Lex did that in All-Stars and got axed. Do your homework.
2. Ralph – Just for being on this show, you were a terrible castaway and lead your entire tribe into demise.
3. Natalie and Ashley – Please get voted out soon, you both may tie for the most boring castaways in Survivor history. I thought maybe you would make a move last week, or at least consider the idea. ‘Cause you know there is this thing called a million dollars maybe you’d like? No that is too much to consider!
Since I have been a proud member of Candy 95 starting in August one thing has bugged me. Our fabulous morning show host Frito has always strongly resembled someone in my mind but I just could not place who. The other day it FINALLY hit me! Scooter Ward is Frito’s long lost brother. Who is Scooter you ask? He had moderate popularity about eight years ago as the lead singer of the band Cold. Their hit track in the year 2003 was “Stupid Girl.” Take a look at this!
Am I on to something here, or am I just trippin’? I seem to trip a lot these days, 19 hours of classes per week do that to you!
You may remember my interview with Puntin and Duke a little while back. I recently received word from Puntin that their Aggieland hit track, “Show’em How We Gig’em” has hit Itunes! Show them some love and make a 99 cents well spent. Look for more music from these guys soon!
