Petition To Replace Confederate Statues With Britney Spears Soars Past 24,000 Signatures

Daily News –  Oops she did it again.

Britney Spears is the subject of a new petition aimed at replacing New Orleans’ statues of Confederate soldiers with statues of “Louisiana hero Britney Spears,” TMZ reported Friday.

The Change.org petition dubs the 38-year-old singer, who grew up about 90 miles north of New Orleans in Kentwood, “one of the world’s most important and influential pop legends,” and an “an inspiration to millions.”

Both her talent and character have made her worthy of such an honor, the petition notes, pointing to Spears overcoming oft publicized mental health issues and “continuously working toward improving herself.”

At the time of publication, the petition — directed to the Louisiana State Senate, Louisiana State House, and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R), among others — sought 25,000 signatures and already amassed more than 16,000 by Saturday evening.
