Interview with Justin Furstenfeld from Blue October

Blue October was immortalized after hits like Hate Me, Calling You, and Bleed Out but Justin Furstenfeld’s lasting legacy is being dictated by thie relentless mission to spread his message of faith, courage, hope and that life is good.

Walking into the room I realized Justin probably wouldn’t remember me despite meeting a few times over the past 4 years. He travels all over the world and meets thousands of people. Why would he? Either way, I was met with a smile, hug, and compliment about still having a full head of hair.

If it’s your first or hundredth time meeting him, Justin radiates the warmth of an old friend, the wisdom of a grandfather and the attentiveness as if you’re the only person in the room. That made me almost too comfortable. At times I found myself slipping from conducting an interview to having a conversation. We talked for over half an hour about how he developed the performance in his Open Book tour, his definition of success, recent projects then went a bit off the rails.

Thank you so much to Justin for giving us his time, his manager Paul for setting this up, and Cade Key for being our camera guy.
