The BBC has a new series called Colour: The Spectrum of Science and a clip from a recent episode is going viral because it tricks your brain into seeing a black-and-white photo of a castle in full color.
First they show the photo with a bunch of bright colors added in. And you have to stare at a blue dot for about 30 seconds. Then it switches to black-and-white and if you keep staring at the center of it, it looks like it’s in color.
Some website explained how it works. But basically, staring at the bright colors messes with the light receptors in your eyes, and makes one of them stop working temporarily. And it only works because of the specific colors they used.
