Four people are dead and several others are wounded after a shooting at a Waffle House near Nashville, Tennessee early Sunday morning. The man arrived at the Waffle House in Antioch around 3 a.m. local time, exited his truck, and began firing an AR-15 at two people outside the restaurant. He then went inside the restaurant and opened fire.
After hearing the man’s gun jam, James Shaw Jr. rushed from where he had taken cover, got the gunman to the ground, and wrestled the weapon away from him saving the lives of others in the restaurant. Shaw was grazed by a bullet and was treated for burns on his right hand that he sustained after grabbing the hot barrel of the gun.
James said he doesn’t think he’s deserves any recognition though.
“I didn’t really fight that man to save everyone else. That may not be a popular thing. I took the gun so I could get myself out”
Either way, he saved lives that day which we think is enough to be called a hero.
