What would your reaction be if a 50-foot, 50,000 pound sea giant swam up to you and nudged you around a little bit? Freaked out a little bit?
That exact scenario happened to Marine biologist Nan Hauser off the coast of New Zealand. The whale approached Hauser and began pushing her with it’s massive head and tucking her under it’s fin. She was concerned at first considering the whale could smush her without even trying but quickly realized the gentle giant was saving her from a TIGER SHARK lurking only a short distance away!
Humpbacks have been known to save seals from predators by doing the same thing but this might be the only documented case of human being protected like this.
