A bunch of coffee chains are giving out free coffee for National Coffee Day today but Starbucks is NOT one of them.
Instead, they’re launching a yearlong program where they’ll plant a tree for every bag of coffee they sell at their stores. Which is nice… but doesn’t help you get free coffee.

Here are a couple chains that ARE giving away coffee!
1) You can get a free small coffee and a glazed donut at Krispy Kreme if you mention the promotion.
Participating Dunkin’ Donuts will give you a free medium or iced coffee if you ask for it.
2) Whole Foods stores are selling 12-ounce cups of coffee for 25 cents.
Staples is running a promotion where you can win a Keurig and a bunch of other stuff if you tweet a photo of your favorite coffee mug with the hashtag #OfficeMugShot.
3) McDonald’s is mostly ignoring National Coffee Day this year.
A few locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts are giving out small cups but it’s not clear if they’re doing it anywhere else.
@lindsayxmichele You're in luck. We're giving away a FREE medium hot or iced Dark Roast to our guests tomorrow for #NationalCoffeeDay ^NS
