After releasing his critically acclaimed album “DAMN”, Kendrick Lamar has just won The Pulitzer Prize for Music. Lamar is also making history with this win being the first non-classical or jazz artist to ever win it.
“A dense and sophisticated collage of hybrid sounds, polyrhythms, layered under what we would probably consider pulsing kinetic text. The brilliance of the music is what’s shone through” said Pulitzer Administrator Dana Canedy.
The rap phenom has had an incredible year winning numerous awards including a Grammy for Best Rap Album and was also certified double platinum. Giving Lamar his first U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number one single “Humble.”
