On July 12th 1979 one of the most unexpected secussful radio promotions happened in between a White Sox double header in Chicago. A local radio DJ named Steve Dahl was going to collect a few disco records and blow them up in center field. If you brought a record to the ball park to contribute you would only be charged $1 for admission.
Well… things got out of hand. There was basically a small riot on the field and they had to cancel the second game because the field had been damaged.
