I see London, I see France, I can see your underpants.
A limited-edition line of transparent beach shorts for men is for sale online through at least three retailers, including Amazon, that give lookie-loos an unobstructed view of everything underneath.
Called the Berlin Transparent Waterproof Beach Short, by beachwear brand MaverickSwim, the $26.99 item is described as “completely see-through,” leaving it “totally up to you if you wanna wear a colorful [Speedo] underneath or just go bare for fun!”
Images show a crystal-clear peek at a muscled model’s barely covered private parts — and, in the back, his trunk.
It’s not clear who designed the shorts — a message to MaverickSwim was not returned — but the website notes they’re made of polyester and come with a neon yellow trim.
On Amazon, the same pair is available through a store called Mendove, which sells them for $15.99. Mendove, which also sells mesh tank tops and “sexy” sleeveless summer robes for men, could not be reached for comment.
If this style is too revealing, MaverickSwim has two options that are ever so slightly more modest. One, a $26.99 offering with orange trim, is made of a more translucent plastic, slightly blurring what’s under them. The other, a $19.99 pair of sheer white swim shorts, features handy pockets.
Promotional copy reads: “These … [shorts] … in white are not for the shy fellas!”
Indeed, nothing for sale on the MaverickSwim site — whose styles appear to be marketed toward gay men — is for the modest. Think leopard-print thongs ($9.94) and lace-up mesh trunks ($16.99).
But it’s these beach shorts that stick out the most.
The trunks’ tagline proclaims, “[They] make you pop out of the crowds!”
That might not be all that pops out.
