BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (KBTX) – Texas A&M University will have to pay a hefty fine for fans rushing Kyle Field after a seven overtime victory against LSU.
The Southeast Conference said Monday they will fine Texas A&M $50,000 for violating conference policy. According to a press release, fans aren’t allowed into the competition area after the game. Thousands of Aggies rushed the field late Saturday night after Texas A&M beat LSU 74-72. The game went to a record-tying seven overtime periods.
The fine will go towards the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.
In 2015, the conference approved an increase in the fine amount. Institutions get fined $50,000 for their first offense. A $100,000 fine can be levied for a second offense and a third offense could cost $250,000.
