The U.S. won the overall medal count at the Summer Olympics for the sixth time in a row, finishing with 121 medals. The last time any country won more than that was in 1988, when the U.S.S.R. finished with 132.
We also won the most gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Our female athletes were a huge reason for it, winning just over HALF of our medals this year. They finished with 61, which is a new record. And if they’d competed as their own country, they would have come in third.
