The U.S. Leads with 26 Olympics Medals After Day Four

America picked up seven more medals at the Olympics yesterday, and four of them were GOLD.  So we’re now leading overall and have the most gold medals.

Here are the standings going into Day Five

1.  The United States leads with 26 medals
9 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze.

2.  China with 17 medals 
8 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze.

3.  Japan with 14 medals 
3 gold, 1 silver, and 10 bronze.

4.  Russia with 12 medals 
3 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze.

5.  Australia with 9 medals
4 gold and 5 bronze.

Michael Phelps won his 20th gold medal in the 200-meter butterfly . . . then won another one as part of the 4x200m freestyle relay team.  So he now has 21 career gold medals, which is the most all time.  That’s 12 more than anyone else in Olympic history.

Swimmer Katie Ledecky won the women’s 200-meter freestyle, and grabbed her second gold medal in Rio.  She also has a silver.

The U.S. women’s gymnastics team dominated the all-around competition and won by more than eight points, which is a record.  Russia took silver, and China took bronze.
