Tom Petty Has Died at the Age of 66

Tom Petty was put on life support yesterday after suffering cardiac arrest.  His family officially announced his death late last night at 8:40 pm PST after some earlier reports jumped the gun.

Petty’s manager put out a statement on behalf of the family which ended a few hours of confusion after the LAPD “confirmed” Tom’s death prematurely to CBS News several hours before he was actually gone. He was 66.
