Why You Might Want to “Hideaway” From Kiesza

Top 40 music was never my first choice. Being from a small town in Texas, naturally  I was raised on Country music. However, as I got older and began experimenting and playing instruments I started to expand my musical horizon. I started listening to more hip hop, pop, rock and other kinds of music.  Even when I started working here I did not know exactly how I felt about jockeying for Top 40 music. About a month in, I really started to appreciate the music because of the originality and the uniqueness in the artists and their backgrounds. While I love country music, I will even admit that for the most part all the stories are very similar.

To prove my point further, this story about Kiesza is unbelievable. Seven years before her smash hit “Hideaway” she was enrolled in the Navy Reserve for the Royal Canadian Navy. She was even awarded “Top Shot” and poised to be a high level sniper for a primay reserve infantry regiment called the Calgary Highlanders. However, she claimed that she could never have killed a real person.

This story to me is just so AWESOME because it encompasses what is so great about Top 40 music. Not everyone is the same, not everyone is normal, some people are ordinary but some of them are extraordinary! So congrats to Kiesza for serving her country and now for becoming a blossoming start. I will from now on be a fan of hers!
